A Southport marketing firm is set to ease the town’s job shortage by expanding its workforce.

Third party promotions specialist Access Point UK, based on Lord Street, is to hold a recruitment workshop in February. Ten new positions have been created after the business secured a raft of new accounts.

Southport-born director David Robertshaw explained: “Following recent account wins, we will be holding a workshop on Saturday, February 27, to recruit for new positions within our business-to-business sales teams. “Increasing our workforce will ensure that we can maintain a full and professional service to current clients and also allow breathing space for the continued growth of the business.”

Access Point was founded in 1997 and today employs 40 people and turns over £4m. The company has become the UK’s leading provider of marketing promotions with organisations flocking to take advantage of its links with 4,000 of the country’s busiest supermarkets and retail parks. Among its marketing repertoire, the firm sells advertising space on the reverse of till rolls, provides in-store sampling and delivers external promotions.

David added: “We’re absolutely delighted to be able to offer these positions to local people. “Anybody interested in a new challenge or change of career is welcome to apply – we won’t be restricting applicants based solely on experience, it’s often the personality and skills that a person can bring to a role that’s more important to their success.”

Access Point employee, Claire Kamel, 29, is testament to that fact – starting her career with the company as a temporary receptionist. She quickly built herself up to become one of the business’ top performing sales managers and greatest success stories. She said: “I joined the company straight after completing my HMD in social care and had planned to become a social worker. “However, I found the world of marketing and promotions so exciting that, after almost seven years, I’m still working at Access Point – and loving every minute of it.” Claire has worked across many of the national accounts including Sainsbury’s, Somerfield, Ikea and Safeway.

David concluded: “There are a fantastic range of career opportunities available to anyone who joins us. “Access Point is a great place to build strong marketing sales experience working with national brands. “And as we continue to secure partnerships with more and more big name accounts the only way is up!”

The Access Point recruitment workshop will be held on Saturday, February 27 at the Ramada Plaza Hotel, Southport. All positions are based out of the Southport office and offer a competitive basic salary with uncapped commission.
