Our very own HR officer Kasha Nieciecka headed to Majorca in 2013 to compete in the Thomas Cook half Ironman Series 70.3 Mallorca event.

This huge challenge involves a 1.9Km swim, a 90.1Km cycle race followed by a 21.1Km run.

The swimming competition was held on Alcudia beach, which is one of the most beautiful and sandy beaches in Mallorca.  Kasha completed this section of the course in 53 minutes and 48 seconds.

The bike race took the cyclists past the most picturesque views in Mallorca including Pollença Bay, Sierra de Tramuntana, Lluc, Selva, Inca, Muro and Alcudia.  Kasha completed this section of the course in a fantastic 3 hours, 28 minutes and 49 seconds.

Finally, the running course was a 3 loop track along the beautiful sandy beach of Alcudia before finishing at its unique harbour.  Kasha completed this section of the course in an impressive 1 hour, 56 minutes and 10 seconds.

Kasha had targeted herself to finish within in 8 hours, but she smashed this by nearly an hour and a half and had an unbelievable finish time of 6 hours, 35 minutes and 11 seconds.  We couldn’t be more proud of her!

For her next event Kasha would like to participate in the full ironman challenge in Lanzarote.  This is considered to be the hardest triathlon in the world due to the hilly climate (it includes a 2551m hill climb) combined with strong head and cross winds.

To keep her busy in the mean time Kasha also organized a 12 hour salsa dancing marathon for charity.

“I danced for the full 12 hours with a range of different partners who volunteered to dance with me for various amounts of time. Many of my colleagues came to watch & sponsored me…a few were even brave enough to join in!”
