'Son of A Beach' Roof Party
Over six months has gone by since we moved into our new home, the Old Courthouse. During that time the renovations on the building have continued; a bike shed has been built to further encourage our Bike 2 Work scheme, bespoke artwork has been hung in the corridors and most impressive of all, a roof terrace garden has been constructed.
This beautiful and relaxing area boasts great views across Southport, luxury rattan furniture and even a grassed area for sunbathing.
In true Access Point style, it was decided a party was needed to celebrate it's completion and the official opening of 'Court 4'....any excuse! Friday 17th July would be perfect, as it was also David's work anniversary and birthday weekend, a triple celebration!
And so the preparations began for a beach themed event with BBQ...the caterers were delighted when they realised they'd need to carry all their equipment up two flights of stairs and we became addicted to BBC weather whilst praying for a sunny day!
It worked (sort of)! A blustery but dry day arrived with periods of lovely sunshine as we began the set up. The beach theme turned out to be a fusion of sophisticated Hamptons class meets Magaluf! Nautical themed cushions and blankets added to the sofa area and deck chairs, inflatable palm trees and a sand pit adorning the grass! Twinkly lights and paper parrots were strung throughout and despite some glue rage by Andy, a surf couple was constructed for cheeky photo opps!
With the fizz on ice and the slush machine set up the evening began with a quiz to commemorate David's 16 years with the company. He was 'dressed' in his beach outfit before the party began with the theme tune of the evening, what else but 'Club Tropicana'!
After that much merriment was had, hula-hooping, limbo competitions, Macarena dancing and at one point an Elvis megamix especially for Caroline!
It was a great evening, spent with great company in a fabulous location and for once, no rain! What more could you ask for.....except perhaps another sunny day to do it all again!
